Review:

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers is a prime example of a terrific remake. The story is solid, the film steadily builds up to it’s climax, it has terrific actors (Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Brooke Adams) Invasion is a superbly crafted film and effectively mixes Sci Fi with Horror. In Invasion there are some truly terrifying and startling scenes as Aliens quietly take over San Francisco. The film has a terrific atmosphere, and is truly tense. There are many elements that stand out from the original film and in many ways is totally different, as the story is reinvented in a whole new way. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers overall is a solidly build Sci Fi Horror film that shouldn’t be missed as a terrific film from start to finish, plus the climax is unforgettable.

M. Night Shyamalan

Run Time:
106 Minutes

Released:
August 2, 2002

Review:

Signs is by far the best film by director M. Night Shyamalan. Signs is a truly original film from start to finish. It’s the type of film that keeps you interested till the end. Signs is a remarkable film due to the fact that it combines elements of a horror film with that of a drama. Truly a work of originality, Signs is a superbly crafted film and is Shyamalan’s greatest achievement as a director. Many People would disagree and say that The Sixth Sense is better, but for me Signs is a much better film with scares and plenty drama. The cast is excellent and give terrific performances. This film will definitely appeal to anyone who loves Horror, Suspense, Drama or Sci Fi. Signs is a film that has something for any film-goer. Overall this film won’t disappoint as its filled with thrills and suspense and creepy moments. A very original film. Signs is the culmination of Shymalan’s creativeness. After Signs he has made more bad movies, and he lost his touch. Only The Happening was decent enough, but it doesn’t compare to this one. If you are to watch one Shyamalan film, make it this one. Signs is simply terrific. film making. It’s too bad that Shyamalan’s career went down the toilet after this.

Review:

With a title like Killer Klowns From Outer Space you know you’re in for something special. Invading aliens done up as clowns land by a town and start killing the local towns people with cotton candy ray guns and guns that shoot popcorn. The film is quite original and is a fun one as well. You’ll find yourself hating clowns and laughing, and jumping out of your seat. The Chiodo Brothers created something that is truly special in Klowns, this film in my opinion deserves a lot more praise, and is definitely a classic of the genre. This film will make you smile as the Klowns with homicidal tendencies kill the population of the local town in creative ways. If you know by, this is not a film to take seriously. The point of this film is that it’s a horror comedy, a fun one at that. You can tell just by the title that you’ll either love it or hate it. Killer Klowns is a terrific B movie, and is a film that every horror fan should see because the premise is so silly, you’re guaranteed a good time watching it. In my opinion Killer Klowns From Outer Space is very underrated, and just because it has a somewhat “dumb” title, you should dismiss this film on those grounds. The film was designed to be a fun ride for the audience, simple as that. Killer Klowns shouldn’t be taken so seriously, watch it before judging the film too harshly. The film is very amusing, silly, but above all fun.
Overall, Killer Klowns is a great little gem of Horror Comedy, and if you love laughing and being scared, give this one a view. Killer Klowns is a film that should be considered a classic and get the attention it truly deserves

The Deadly Spawn (1983)

Directed by:
Douglas McKeown

Produced by:
Ted A. Bohus
John Dods
Tim Hildebrandt

Run Time:
78 Minutes

Released:
April 22nd, 1983

Review:

The Deadly Spawn is one terrific alien film that has hints of old school 1950′s sci-fi horror. The film is a low-budget horror film that works well because it doesn’t take itself seriously for one second, and you gotta love the amounts of gore in the film. The Deadly Spawn is the perfect film for any gore fan. The films strength is in the gore and of course because it’s a low-budget film, the acting isn’t that great. But man is this film entertaining. I was expecting something awful with this film, but to my surprise, it was pretty good considering the simplistic story, effects and not so good acting. For fans of independent horror films, The Deadly Spawn is the perfect film to watch. The film is very entertaining, and though it’s not perfect, the film manages to be a memorable addition to genre and is a film that Sci Fi horror fans should see. Sometimes, you have to appreciate a films imperfections, and in the case of The Deadly Spawn, its proves to be to be true. The delivery of good gore makes this a blast, and it makes a somewhat mediocre film into a really good one because The Deadly Spawn is simply a fun, thrilling and above all entertaining film. This film is a must see for every horror fan, a wonderful low-budget monster alien flick that delivers wicked gore.

Super 8 review

Super 8 (2011)

Tagline: It Arrives.

Directed by:
J. J. Abrams

Produced by:
Steven Spielberg
J. J. Abrams
Bryan Burk

Run Time:
112 Minutes

Released:
June 10, 2011

Review:

Super 8 is a terrific film that combines many genres into one film. The film is a Sci Fi film that has elements of mystery and horror. J.J Abrams crafts a solid film that has hints of Spielberg’s Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. The story like I said, is a mix of different genres of film, and J.J Abrams is able to successfully combine those genres into one well executed film. The film surrounds a group of kids filming their own zombie horror film, and while doing so, catch a train crash on their Super 8 camera. But then there’s some strange happenings in the neighboring town. People star disappearing, animals star disappearing and other abnormal things happen. The army quickly gets involved and one can guess what happens after. Super 8 takes the usual Sci Fi, thriller / horror ingredients and takes it to a whole new level of creativity. Abrams has made a terrific, entertaining film that is able to touch on several genres without it being too cliché. Considering that the cast of actors here, are mostly kids, they do a fine job at what they’re doing, and since most of them have never acted in a big budget film, it’s great to see them pull something entertaining and it shows that if they keep it up, they have bright careers ahead of them. In the end it’s hard to pinpoint what genre of film Super 8, but it’s a fair guess to say that it’s part Sci Fi, part Thriller, part mystery and part horror film. there’s some truly intense scenes in this film as well as dramatic scenes that adds to the human emotion on-screen, for that Super 8 is a totally different film from many other film that have been seen in the Sci Fi or horror genres of the past. A well acted film with a really good and engaging story.

Attack the Black review

Attack the Block (2011)

Tagline: Inner city vs outer space

Directed by:
Joe Cornish

Produced by:
Nira Park
James Wilson

Run Time:
88 Minutes

Released:
May 11, 2011

Review:

Using elements of horror, science fiction, comedy and action, Attack the Block has got to be the most inventive and fun film in the genre. Attack the Block is a terrific alien invasion Sci Fi horror film that for me is the most fun Sci Fi film since Battle: Los Angeles. Attack the Block has a great cast of actors, and the story is engaging, thrilling and fun. Attack the Block is one of the most fun films that I’ve seen in quite some time. Director Joe Cornish effectively constructs a terrific Sci Fi film that blends horror and comedy in quite an original way. I don’t understand the flack that this film has received. I personally think that this one of the best Sci Fi horror comedies to come out in a long time. The plot is original, there are some great performances here, and enough gore to satisfy the diehard horror fan. Attack the Black is not for everyone, but for those who enjoy something different and are fans of the Sci Fi horror genre, Attack the Block is a film not to miss. This film is terrific, funny and is a totally new, refreshing take on the alien invasion films of old. This film is lots of fun, and the cast do a very good job in their parts. The film manages to use old elements, but use them in a way that is totally different and refreshing in an alien invasion film. Attack the Block is scary, funny, gory action packed fun. The common criticisms of the film where that it placed emphasis on thugs being heroes. In a way it’s true, but in another it isn’t. I mean if you’re going to watch a film to simply find that one particular thing that’s wrong about the film, don’t even bother watching it. I mean with a title like Attack the Block what do you expect? Watching this film I wasn’t thinking to myself, “what a bunch of little heroes!” I just focused on the craziness on-screen and had a blast watching this film. If you’re going to complain that it’s a bunch of hoods being heroes and saving their housing projects from alien invasion=, this may not be your type of film. But to those looking for a great Sci Fi horror action comedy, then look no further than Attack the Block. A fun, crazy film that is most certainly one of the best films of 2011.

Cloverfield review

Cloverfield (2008)

Tagline: Some thing has found us

Directed by:
Matt Reeves

Produced by:
J.J Abrams

Run Time:
84 Minutes

Released:
January 18, 2008

Review:

In the style of Blair Witch Project, Cloverfield takes a totally different approach at a monster movie. Using the shaky cam technique, we are thrown in the middle of a monster attack in New York City. Told from the point of view from people with a video camera, we follow the small group of people as they try to escape Manhattan and escape the attack. With the cam, we get a glimpse at the carnage that the monster is causing. A very well crafted film, not for everyone as the film is filmed in shaky cam style so if you’re prone to motion sickness, do not watch it! I have epilepsy, and I’m not sure if this film can induce seizures or not, but for potential epileptic viewers, I’ve watched this film as of yet three times; and I haven’t suffered any seizures. But I would recommend that you watch it as far away from your TV as possible. Anyhow back to the film in question, Cloverfield is filmed in the found footage genre, and like films such as The Blair Witch Project and the far superior Cannibal Holocaust, it’s presented as a format of which there were no survivors. The film is very intense and thrilling. Cloverfield is a unique Horror film, and is an awesome monster film. I think this is one of the most original horror films I’ve seen in years and because of the camera work, you really feel that the characters are in jeopardy and it really make you feel like you’re there in person. But unfortunately, the film is a bit hard to watch because of the shaky camera work, but after a while you get used to it. A really effective new breed of horror film. Cloverfield delivers some amazing thrills that you won’t forget. A far superior work than The Blair Witch Project.
